To help you get caught up on the latest event trends for 2016, we’ve curated a list of the coolest, on-trend wedding and event table trends on the market.
Top 5 Wedding Table Trends in 2016
Kate Spade Table Decor
This year a huge trend for table decor takes note from the timeless and fabulous, Kate Spade. The luxury goods brand is known for it’s feminine, understated, and on-trend styles. From bags to clothes to accessories (a la the table spread below), this trend is huge for 2016.
To incorporate a Kate Spade table spread at your event, you have to start with the recognizable aspects of the brand; Kate Spade is known for combining pops of feminine colors (notably pink and turquoise) with strong contrasting patterns like black and white stripes or black and white polka dots. Add a brightly colored bouquet and gold accents, and you’ve created a beautiful Kate Spade-inspired table – perfect for your 2016 event!
Check out the Kate Spade themed table below from a recent wedding we catered in Encanto Park. Pretty gorgeous right?!
All That Glitters is GOLD!
Metallics – specifically gold, bronze, and rose gold – are heavily trending for 2016 events. The luminous color palette is so popular because metallics often work like neutrals; the colors can be dressed up or played down to fit whatever theme a party planner is creating.
If you want to add a little glitz to your table setting, try a glittery table cloth like the one below. This one elevates the table without looking chintzy, something to watch out for when using glitter (there’s an extremely fine line between chic and cheap). If you’re looking for a way to use metallics to add a pop of color or texture but don’t want the colors to draw too much attention, try using a bronze or a rose gold color. Both of these color options are a bit more muted than standard gold yet still offer a pop of shine or shimmer.
One last thing to note – warm hued metallics are in for 2016, cool tones like silver are out!
Long Rectangular Tables
Interestingly the debate on event table shape is quite an impassioned one. For a while the trend for weddings and corporate events was to use several round tables to create intimate group gatherings for people to connect. The notion of a round table was that it created a circular table of discussion; essentially making it easier to converse with everyone at the table. While many people advocate for this event table style, there’s been a huge resurgence towards long rectangular style tables for 2016.
Fans of long tables say the look creates a more formal “dining room” feel for the event. Steering the mood away from an informal “meet up” type feel and making the event feel more elegant and fancy. Long rectangular tables use table settings in a slightly different way. Instead of placing centerpieces in the middle of the table, long rectangle tables give you a variety of options: you can create one long centerpiece that goes down the center of the entire table or create mini ones that are evenly placed throughout the table.
The All-Natural, Less-Is-More Table Setup
Another 2016 trend to consider for your wedding table settings is the less-is-more approach. Gone are the days of excess and extreme decor that can sometimes make an event seem gluttonous or over the top. Instead try this very paired down, simple table setup. There’s something quite beautiful in the minimalistic, simple, and vulnerable approach. It gives off a very raw vibe that emotes feelings of “home”.
To accomplish this all-natural, less-is-more table setup use vintage dining room tables and chairs. Don’t worry about trying to find 10 table and chair sets that all match; instead embrace the nonuniformity and find 10 table and chair sets that are completely unique. The differences are what makes the all-natural vibe really work. Use simple centerpieces and classic good-quality silverware, no tablecloths needed!
Monochromatic Table Schemes
Last but not least, we love monochromatic event colors. The resurgence in single hued wedding colors has been around for the last few years and it sticks around for the trends in 2016. In fact, many couples are opting to go against the traditional two color event selections; opting for monochromatic schemes (like the one below) or opting for numerous colors (as many as 5 colors for an event). In 2016, it’s really all about what you want to do and not following arbitrarily set rules.
For those that love the monochromatic color scheme, it’s easy to incorporate this look into your event. The hardest part is working to get your colors to match the hues exactly. Picking a universal color, like white or black, makes the job a bit easier than picking a color like yellow, for example, that comes in a multitude of hues. Using one color gives an event a very formal, classy, and upscale vibe.
