How to Host a Graduation Party!
If you have a child that is preparing to graduate you know what a major accomplishment this is for them and probably you as well. Graduation is an exciting time for everyone! Most people love to celebrate this special commencement by throwing a Graduation Party. However, there are a few things you should consider before you jump into party planning mode.
Budget, Budget, Budget
Just like any party there has to be a budget that allows you to control your spending. One of the first things you need to do is gather a guest list so you have an idea of how many people may be attending. This number is vital when you are getting ready to get pricing for a caterer, a venue, and of course invitations.
Location, Location, Location
One of the hardest parts of having a party is the location where you want the graduation party to be held. This will depend greatly on the type of party you are looking to have. Do you want it to be a more formal celebration or an outdoor barbecue? Perhaps both parents and graduates are attending so you may need enough room to entertain everyone.
Pick a Time
When it comes to the after party of the graduation the timing is very important. You have to consider the time it takes for graduation, the pictures, saying goodbye, and anything else that may play a role after the commencement ceremony is over. Depending on the time of the graduation you may want to have the party start a few hours after the ceremony, or even the next day. A few hours after the graduation ceremony or the day after graduation are usually the best time for Graduation Parties, the reason being is because usually family and friends are only around for a short amount of time before they go off to college, travel home, or go on a graduation trip.
Theme or No Theme
It is important that you decide on whether or not you are going to have a theme for your graduation party. Some ideas would be the graduates favorite TV show, movie, sport, or even the college they are planning to attend. This decision will be necessary when choosing the invitations, menu and entertainment.
Don’t forget in all your planning efforts that you are supposed to enjoy the Graduation Party and that this is made to be a lifetime achievement and celebration. This is why it is important to budget enough to have a caterer or other amenities that will allow you to enjoy the party too.
